Streak, archives and ranking

Daily Box is an appointment: a new box every day, at midnight in your time zone. These rules explain what the appointment earns you.
The streak
Each daily box completed extends your streak. A missed day breaks it. It can be saved only once, the next day and only until midnight: the streak then resumes at its value and the daily box adds 1. Yesterday's box, played to save the streak, earns neither gears nor a place in the ranking.
The archives
The archives gather past boxes in a monthly calendar. You see the state of each day and your streaks there. « Catch up » replays a missed day (the box and the seed that are yours), without streak, ranking or gears. « Replay » restarts a box you have already finished, to beat your time, without recording anything.
The daily ranking
The daily ranking counts final times, mistakes and hints included. Two players with the same time are tied. Only results verified by the server appear: the server replays your game from its action log, which makes it impossible to fake a time. A player who has seen the solution stays ranked, with the time it cost them.
The weekly ranking
It adds up the times of the daily boxes from Monday to Sunday, by the box's date. It is ranked first by the number of boxes played in the week, then by the sum of times: playing every day counts more than playing fast on a single day.
An account, if you want one
You can play without an account. An optional account (magic link by email, or Google) keeps your streak, your gears and your results, and finds them again on another computer. Without an account, you appear as « Anonymous player » in the ranking; you can choose a nickname in the settings.
Tips for a lasting streak
Playing every day is mostly a matter of regularity: the daily box is short at the start of the week, which makes it a good time to maintain the streak. Hard days, Saturday and Sunday, take more time: plan for it from the morning. If you fear missing a day, remember that a broken streak can be saved once, the next day.
Finally, the ranking is only one way of measuring yourself: stars and the streak are enough to follow your progress without comparing yourself to anyone.
