How to play
Last updated: 28 September 2026.
Every day, a new closed box is waiting for you. Look at all its faces, find the clues, work its mechanisms: the goal is to open it, as fast as you can.
Handling the box
- The arrows around the box turn it to show its six faces.
- Click a mechanism to look at it closely; the back button returns to the whole box.
- Objects you find go to the inventory; drag them where they belong. A placed object can be taken back until its mechanism is solved.
- The notebook keeps the notes and symbols found on the way.
- Some boxes hold other boxes: a box only opens once you have taken what is useful inside it.
Codes and errors
- Codes go from 1 to 9 (the dials show 0 to 9).
- Only a failed attempt at a code counts as an error (a drawer pulled too early, panels, keys): +15 seconds. Placing an object in the wrong spot is not one.
- After 3 errors on the same code, it locks for 60 seconds of play.
- No action can make a box impossible to open.
Time, stars and hints
- The timer starts with your first move on the box and stops while paused.
- 3 stars within the box’s reference time, 2 under twice that, 1 beyond; each star is worth 10 cogs.
- Three-level hints: +30 s, +90 s, then the step’s solution (+5 min, and 2 stars at most). One free hint a day on the box of the day.
Streak and ranking
- Opening the box of the day every day makes your streak longer. A streak broken yesterday can be saved once, today only, by opening yesterday’s box.
- The daily ranking only counts results verified by the server, which replays your game.
- Practice boxes, the tutorial and replayed games count neither for the streak nor for the ranking.
